Wild at Heart Refuge Centre is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization and a registered charity that provides veterinary treatment and rehabilitation to wild animals that are orphaned, sick or injured, so that they may return to the wild. It is the only facility of its kind in Northern Ontario.

Up to 500 animals are treated annually. These include songbirds, raptors, small and large mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Primarily, the animals treated at Wild at Heart are there as a result of human interference. We owe them compassion and our utmost efforts to ensure that they not only survive, but thrive.

As community awareness of Wild at Heart increases, so does the number of animals we receive. In order to safely accommodate all of our patients, and the people who provide treatment to them, plans are underway to build a home for Wild at Heart next to the Walden Animal Hospital. While rehabilitation is still our top priority, the new facility will enable us to allow the public and school children to witness our work first hand. In keeping with our respect for nature, the facility will be a “green” building.

Wild at Heart’s new headquarters will be a symbol of our community’s commitment to our environment and to our fellow creatures.

• $25 helps to purchase medical supplies such as syringes
• $50 buys a week's supply of milk replacer for infant mammals
• $100 buys a month's supply of special moose-milk formula
• $250 helps to purchase building materials for an enclosure

If you prefer to give a donation in kind, gift certificates for grocery, hardware, lumber, or drug stores are also very much appreciated (and still tax deductible).

If you would like to make an in-memoriam or a tribute gift, simply notify us of who you would like the acknowledgement sent to. The official receipt for income-tax purposes will be sent to you. It's a wonderful way to pay tribute to an animal lover in your life.
